I apologise for my lack of blogging over the past couple of months but a lot has happened. First and foremost, after a year and a half of working for free (otherwise known as interning) and working in Costa (to pay for said internships) I FINALLY landed myself a job. Not just any job, but a job in publishing! I am now a "Publishing Assistant" at Intellect Books who specialise in the fields of creative practice and popular culture. This job meant a move to Bristol, (where I know no one so if you are in Bristol please come say hi) so I am now finding my way around a new city, discovering new art galleries, music venues and most importantly tea and bookshops!
In my absence from blogging I have read many fascinating books (currently loving Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn), watched a lot of TV programs (addicted to Breaking Bad and The Bridge at the moment) and gone from the usual drinking and feasting month of December to detox and fasting January (which also meant joining a Netball club, go Bristol Storms!)
So all in all, there has been a lot of change recently, which is why I have neglected my blog so soon after promising to update it more regularly. So again, I promise to regularly update you all from my new place in Bristol with all the books, art and films that I am being influenced by. For now I leave you with my quote of the week, from one of my favourite directors:
80% of success is showing up
Woody Allen
The life, loves, art works and inspirations of a young photographer.

Readers Updated
As friends and family know, I am an avid reader who loves nothing more than curling up with a good cup of tea and a great book I can loose myself in.
As our ever increasingly hectic schedules leave us with very little time to sit and relax I aim to document the ways in which we manage to fit in a few moments of peace and quiet with a good book. Whether on our everyday commute, at a restaurant or coffee shop or just curled up on the sofa the solitary act of reading is enjoyed by all. As technology expands reading is still very much present, which the invention of kindles, smartphones and increasingly smaller laptops has reading become even more popular? This is something I am exploring everyday with my photography, as some of you may know from earlier blogs.
It has been a while since I updated you all on the project, so here are a few of my most recent photographs. To see the whole project visit my website

Read, then watch (and make sure to have a box of tissues at the ready.)

I was apprehensive at first about the thought of one of my favourite books Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro being made into a film. It is such a beautiful, moving and provocative book that captured me from page 1 and worried about how they would translate the heartbreaking but beautiful story so subtly captured on page on the big screen...
But wow, I take back all my reservations as is it was a brilliantly made adaptation. Whilst I still prefer the book (of course) the film comes very close to being just as good! Carey Mulligan, Keira Knightley and in particular (in my opinion) Andrew Garfield give stunningly moving performances that suit the books characters perfectly, still subtle but so touching. So well done Mark Romanek (director) and co. it is the perfect screenplay of such a wonderful book!
I don't want to give anything away about the storyline as it is book full of hidden meanings to discover and something that should definitely be read first and than given away, so I urge you to go read it first and then watch the film... it'll have you (like me) in tears.
Just thank me later!

JLS Work Experience

A few months ago I went along to a shoot by Dean Freeman that was to feature in JLS's new book "Just Between Us: Our Private Diary" (in fact the front cover is one of the images shot on that day). I ended up photographing "behind the scenes", to document what the boys got up to during these shoots. They liked them and now my photographs can be seen on the website... but first you got to buy the book to get the code to use on their wesbite to see my images... so BUY BUY BUY!!

Cecil Court
"Thank God! Cecil Court remains Cecil Court..." - Graham Greene
Tucked away just outside of the hubbub and chaos of Leicester Square sits a picturesque late Victorian thoroughfare, seemingly immune from the bustle of the great city which surrounds it and perfect for book lovers everywhere. The shopfronts have not been altered in more than a century and the traditional hanging signs announce specialists in rare and antiquarian books, maps and prints and all manner of related printed material including stamps and banknotes.
I stumbled across this enchanted place and automatically fell in love. I have managed to purchase many old, written on postcards of London to add to my collection and felt that I had to try and capture Cecil Court's essence. So I loaded up my old school Olympus manual camera with some Ilford Black and White film and snapped away! Once I had developed all the prints I wanted to use, I then used Sepia tone to dye them, in order to capture an old, antique feeling. I made sure that any scratch marks or dust was left on, so that they had an authentic antique and precious feel to them, just like Cecil Court itself.
